Social Projects
Students work on social projects with industry experts to address the most pressing problems in their community.
A2SV upskills high-potential university students, connects them with opportunities at top tech companies around the world, and creates digital solutions to urgent problems in their home countries. The program is free for students, making the opportunity available for youth who have talent but lack the means to use it.
Emre Varol, a former competitive programmer and Google Research, Palantir, Liftoff software/ML engineer launched A2SV in Ethiopia through a partnership with Addis Ababa University in October 2019. Currently, A2SV has a team of more than 50 members participating in its education and project development efforts.
The world is yet to see that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. That is why we want to provide quality education in underdeveloped areas.
We started the fourth group training and welcomed 207 students.
Total number of placements is 31. Our students became interns and full-time workers in Google, Amazon, Linkedin, Palantir, Databricks & Bloomberg
All 3 A2SV students who did internships at Google received and signed full-time software engineering offers with Google.
We expanded to a second university in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa Science and Technology University) and started training 3 new groups of 100+ students both in AASTU and AAU.
We formed interview partnerships with Google, LinkedIn, Palantir, Databricks, and InstaDeep.
3 of our first group members got internship offers from Google.
59% of our first group of trainees passed Google internship interviews after the second round of training.
We started second group training with 35 new students.
Our students created a COVID-19 tracking app - TrackSym - for Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health.
27% of our first group of trainees passed Google internship interviews after 3 months of training.
We formed partnerships with Google, Palantir and Coinbase.
A2SV was founded in Ethiopia.
